Winter is here. The air is crisp and quiet, the fields are blanketed with snow, and the roads are clear of the usual traffic of the warmer months. Amish Country is the perfect place to spend a chilly December afternoon or plans a relaxing weekend getaway not too far from home. Even with the freezing temperatures, you’ll find plenty of things to do here.
As the colorful fall landscape gives way to frosty Christmas weather, families and tourists can enjoy numerous events and festivals in Amish Country. Comprised of the Coshocton, Holmes, Tuscarawas, and Wayne Counties; the Amish Country in Ohio is the biggest in the country. Today there are about 60,000 people living in Ohio.
Amish Country has something for everyone. Whether you’re looking to shop and check out the legendary quality of Amish-made furniture or enjoy tasty snacks from local artisans and craftsman. The forests and fields are perfect for a winter stroll or try the Holmes County Trail for your snowy trek.
Stop in and see a Christmas show at one of the many country theaters in the area and stay in a quaint inn within walking distance of shops and food. Amish Country hosts plenty of festive events such as tree lighting ceremonies, festivals, and baking classes.
The area is also home to a few museums and other historical locations. These small towns provide plenty of opportunities for fun and activity. We all know this time of year can be crazy and stressful, enjoy some of life’s simpler pleasures in Amish Country this winter.
